Renewing your mind
"...Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove which is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:1
Why do you pray and sing and do what we call worship? Do you do it because you think that it is what God desires or requires
or wants from you?
When I correct or instruct my child, the ultimate goal is not for me to feel good about myself as a mom because they are obedient, the ultimate goal is for them to see and know and hear and understand, that what is required of them will benefit THEM in the long run.
Yes, as a parent, you may feel a little pride when things pan out good and they are obedient, but that should not be your ultimate goal.
Everything that our heavenly father instructs us to do is for our benefit, it will cause us to become ONE with the Father, which is the bond of perfection. John 17:21, Colossians 3:14.
There is no greater goal. Every direction, instruction and word that proceeds out of the mouth of God is destined to bring you into the place of one with the father.
Let a man examine himself. 1 Corinthians11:28. What is your goal when you praise and worship? Is it to become one with the Father? If it is not, repent and start over. Acts 3:19
Forgive me Father, for ulterior motives. Forgive me for asking amiss. Forgive me for seeking my own way and turning away from you.
Holy Spirit help me to pray, praise and worship, that I may be one with the Father. Lord direct my prayers that I may rest in you, in Jesus name. Amen.
